About Daniel Nearing: Daniel Nearing's work as a writer-director includes CHICAGO HEIGHTS, named to Roger Ebert's last list of Best Art Films, and HOGTOWN, a New York Times Critics' Pick called "the most original film made about Chicago in Chicago to date" by the Chicago Sun-Times. While serving as the inaugural Filmmaker in Residence for the City of Chicago, he began his current production of SISTER CARRIE, a black and white period love story set in Chicago, Montreal and Paris. Nearing is a fellow of MacDowell and the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation.
